Special Plenary Indulgence of Divine Mercy on the Octave of Easter
On Sunday, April 12th, the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be prayed after every Mass.
On the Octave of Easter, the Liturgy speaks to us in the Epistle (1 Jn 5) of the blood and water which flowed forth from the Savior's side and which is applied to us after our Baptism in the Sacrament and Confession, instituted in today's Gospel (Jn 20). sacramental confession (which may take place within 20 days before or after Divine Mercy Sunday), Eucharistic communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff, is granted to those who take part in the prayers and devotions held in honor of Divine Mercy, or who, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or in the tabernacle, recite the Our Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the Merciful Lord Jesus. If unable to get to church for the above, one may gain the same indulgence by reciting the aforesaid prayers before a devout image of Our Merciful Lord Jesus.
Holy Father's traditional intentions include:
- The Exaltation of the Church.
- The Propagation of the Faith.
- The Extirpation of Heresy.
- The Conversion of Sinners.
- The Concord between Christian Princes.
- The Further Welfare of the Christian People.
Please read the Church's decree on how to gain a plenary indulgence- the complete remission of all temporal punishment due to sin on the Octave of Easter in honor of the Divine Mercy. Also, please read the Norm of Confession for Gaining a Plenary Indulgence.
