Hosting Women's Groups or Young Adult Groups

Once a month we have monthly meetings for Women, Men, and Young Adults. If you are interested in hosting a meeting, please contact Katy Allen at (724)288-1545. We would like to spread the meetings out so that one person or a few people don't end up hosting all the meetings.

Another Round of Scam Emails

Yet another round of scammers pretending to be Fr. van Zee have been circulating. If you receive an email asking for gift cards or money, please know this is a scam. He would never do that. If you receive any kind of suspicious looking email, please email Father at [email protected] or, better yet, call him via the office phone (239) 360-9977.

Disruptions During Mass

Given that we do not have a Church of our own and we are often packed in like sardines, we should be extra careful not to further disturb the Holy Sacrifice as it is already quite easy to do so given our cramped situation.

Even though this is Florida, and it always feels like summer vacation, please be considerate and arrive on time to Mass, i.e., before the bell rings. To arrive after the unveiling of the chalice would not fulfill your Sunday obligation and you would then have to attend another Mass.

It is a tremendous blessing to have an abundance of children which brings challenges with it, as all blessings do. We know children cry and even the very best act up from time to time, so when this is the case, parents, when it is possible, take them to the confessional room at St. Agnes (when not in use), the vestibule, or outside (weather permitting).

All of us are called to be patient with crying babies and parents who have many children. So, when you hear a child that is not yours being a distraction, ignore it. Also, given our cramped quarters, we know there are not many options for parents.

Please consult the section of the bulletin about proper attire which goes for all Masses all the time, not just Sunday.

Lastly, it is the job of the priests to correct the parishioners. So, if you see someone arriving late, hear a baby crying, or a person dressed inappropriately, let one of the priests know and he can address it as he sees fit.

Activities to begin again at Royal Palm Academy

After taking a break for the Summer, we will begin again with our activities at Royal Palm Academy on Saturday September 17th at 9am. Activities include Maidens of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, altar boys, children's choir, and adult classes.

Please see our previous announcements about the Maidens for more information. Please contact Maureen ([email protected]) to express your interest.

Fr. Adams will test the altar boys to ensure their readiness to serve Holy Mass.

Our choir director, Nicky Rutherford, will be leading the children's choir.

Fr. van Zee will be teaching the adult classes from 9am to 10am. The topic for the classes will be the liturgy of the Traditional Latin Mass.

Activities are every first and third Saturday of the month. We will notify you if there are any changes. All are invited!

Birthday of our Blessed Mother

Thursday, September 8th, is the second-class Feast of the Birth of our Blessed Mother. We will have a sung Mass beginning at 5:00pm and not at 5:15pm. This is to ensure that we have a beautiful sung Mass without rushing and to be done in time for the 6:30pm Spanish Mass to begin.

First Saturday Devotion Requirements

Our Blessed Mother promised to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all who, as an act of reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, on the first five Saturdays of consecutive months:

  1. Go to confession
  2. Receive Holy Communion
  3. Say five decades of the rosary
  4. Keep Mary company for fifteen minutes meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the rosary

The sacramental confession can be received within eight days either before or after the reception of Communion, provided the communicant is in the state of grace for Communion.

Reception of Holy Communion must take place within twenty-four hours of the first Saturday. First Friday or Sunday would be acceptable if First Saturday were no possible.

The fifteen minutes of meditation are in addition to the recitation of the rosary.
