Children's Scholas

The children’s schola program at Corpus Christi will resume in September.  The boys’ and girls' scholas will meet at Corpus Christi on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays.  Both scholas are directed by Miss Nicky Rutherford.

Please note the updated ages for the children's scholas.

Children's Rehearsal Schedule

1st & 3rd Saturdays:

  • 9:00 - 9:45 am - Saint Hildegard Girls’ Schola (ages 7-12)
  • 10:00 - 10:45 am - Saint Raphael’s Boys’ Schola (ages 7-12)

During rehearsals, the singers learn the basics of chant and Western notation, develop ensemble skills, and study sacred music including chant, hymns, and polyphony.  These scholas are primarily educational and may sing with the general choirs on various feast days throughout the year.

If your child is interested in joining schola and you have any questions, please contact Miss Rutherford at [email protected] for more information.

Primary Scholas

There are two main scholas at Corpus Christi.  The Schola Gregoriana is a mixed ensemble for ages 13+.  This schola rehearses weekly on Wednesdays after the 5:30pm Mass and sings on the 4th Sunday of the month and various feast days throughout the year.  If you are interested in joining this schola, please reach out to Nicky Rutherford at [email protected]

Additionally, the Schola Cantorum is the primary liturgical choir and sings weekly on Sunday at the 9:30am.  This schola is for adults 18+ by audition only as proficiency in ensemble and sight singing are necessary.  If you are interested in joining this schola, please reach out to Nicky Rutherford at [email protected]
