January 22nd: Day of Penance in Reparation for Abortion

 January 22nd, as decreed by the Bishops of the United States is a day of penance in reparation for the legalization of abortion. The type of penance is left to the election of each individual. A votive Mass of Peace will be offered that the slaughter of the innocents in our land may end.

New Seasonal Saturday Mass Time

Our Saturday morning Mass at St. Agnes Chapel will take place at 7:30am, starting January 25th until after Easter.

Confirmation Preparation for Corpus Christi Chapel Parishioners

His Excellency, Bishop Frank Dewayne, will confer the sacrament of Confirmation on May 10th at 10am, after the 8:45 A.M. Mass at St. Agnes. If you have a child at High School level, and registered with Corpus Christi Chapel please let us know so as to examine him/her in due time. Please plan on attending the supplementary confirmation classes which will be given on certain forthcoming Saturdays to be indicated in the monthly schedule of the bulletin.

Due to the seasonal addition of Sunday masses, our Sunday Mass time at Resurrection, Fort Myers, will begin at 1:30pm, starting February 2nd until after Easter

Epiphany House Blessing

A special Epiphany house blessing
can be imparted to houses beginning on the Vigil of the Epiphany, Jan. 5.
Please sign up on the sheet at the back of the
chapel if you have not yet had your home
blessed and wish us to do so. We will begin with the homes of those who have never yet received it. Homes previously blessed can
have their blessing renewed by the head of
household with the family. (See the Rite for the
Blessing of a Home booklet in the back of the
chapel, or print your own)

Blessing of Epiphany Water- Sunday January 5th at 6:00 PM

The blessing of Epiphany water will take place on Sunday, January 5th at 6:00PM in the chapel at St. Agnes. This beautiful and powerful blessing will take about 45 min. We will try to have enough water for everyone, but you are welcome to bring large containers of water as well as any chalk, incense, gold, and myrrh which you wish to have blessed.

Plenary Indulgences: to end the year and begin the new year

A plenary indulgence is granted to the Christian faithful who, in a church or in an oratory, are present [take part] in a recitation or solemn chant of: ... the hymn Veni Creator ... on the first day of the year, imploring divine assistance for the whole of the coming year... the Te Deum hymn, on the last day of the year, in thanksgiving to God for the favors received in the course of the entire year.” After the 5:15 PM Mass on Tuesday December 31 and the masses on the Holy Day, Wednesday, January 1, we will pray these hymns. N.B. All the normal requirements for an indulgence apply (Confession, Communion, Prayers for the Holy Father's intentions).

The Great "O" Antiphons

Help prepare your family for Christmas by meditating on the Antiphons for Vespers, popularized in the English hymn “O come, Emmanuel” each day from December 17th - 24th. They may be found online under the meditations of the Servant of God, Dom Prosper Gueranger under December 17th

Community Posadas this week!

Come join us for in the traditional Spanish-American Posadas- an Advent Novena in preparation for Christmas.
WHAT IT IS: 
A Rosary is prayed; the Litany of Our Lady is sung in procession with the Holy Family
and then a traditional dialogue is sung in Spanish and English in honor of Mary and Joseph seeking "posada" i.e. lodging, followed by fellowship, food and a piñata.

The 2 posadas organized for our community this week will be:

Sunday, December 15th. 

  • WHEN- 2:30pm-5:30pm
  • WHERE- 4153 Madison Street Ave Maria FL 34142
  • BRING- potluck food and drinks to share on this festive Gaudete Sunday. Mexican dish or any other recommended.  (Food can be dropped off before 12:30 if need be).

December 8: Our Next Community Potluck- catered fundraiser for our building fund

Please mark your calendars and invite some friends to our community potluck: Sunday, December 8th to celebrate our national patron- the Immaculate Conception. It will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M., at Royal Palm Academy. This potluck will be catered with delicious food provided ($10 per adult, $5 per child). Proceeds will go to support our building fund for our future Corpus Christi church. Feel free to bring any other drinks or desserts.
Menu includes: 

  • Beef and Chicken Fajitas
  • Refried Beans
  • Mexican Rice
  • Tortillas
  • Guacamole
  • Pico de Gallo
  • Salsas with chips
  • Mexican sweet bread
  • Flan
